Services are getting increasingly important in industries today in developed countries. As a result, it has become common for companies to provide a combination of services and products. This is also a key to increase the environmental performance. In such offerings, here called Integrated Product and Service Offerings (IPSO), uncertainty has been idnetified as a critical concept to be addressed properly. This project aims at developing a method and a simple computer tool for companies to plan offerings with consideration of different types of uncertainty and of environmental aspects. As additional outcomes, a textbook for dissemination of the knowledge on IPSO will be developed together with other research colleagues on the world. Seminars will be held specifically for this dissemination. The results of this project are expected to contribute to industries in order to achieve Eco-design efficiently in a business-friendly manner by taking advantage of the larger design space for products and services. This project is financed as the Environmental Professorship (Miljöprofessor) by the Swedish Association of Graduate Engineers (Sveriges Ingenjörer) from 2007 to 2009. The professorship is awarded to Tomohiko Sakao at Linköping University and this project is carried out in synergy with other projects within the IPSE team.
